Ciutadella de Menorca
Menorca is a small island in the Mediterranean sea, and Ciutadella (Citadel) is one of two main towns on the island. This ancient port town was originally founded by the Carthaginians in the first millennium B.C. and currently belongs to Spain. The medieval cathedral, located in the Plaza de Pio XII, was built between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries in the Catalan Gothic style. One its the dozen chapels, the Souls, is octagonal in shape, reminiscent of the ancient Arab mosque that occupied the site prior to the basilica. In the south gate is a tombstone dated 1323 attesting to the antiquity of the Cathedral of Ciutadella. For more on Ciutadella, please follow this link.
Relaxed and bathed in sunshine, it was in this tiny Mediterranean port town that Pep Monjo was born in 1967. Influenced by a family tradition of shoe-making, Pep studied design in Milan and then began collaborating with other leading designers in the region. His shoe line, P. Monjo, provides a professional outlet for all of his creativity and experience, producing a personal and exclusive style free from commercial restraint.
